The Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU), Bauchi, through the School of Postgraduate Studies (SPGS), invites applications from suitably qualified candidates for admission into its full-time and part-time postgraduate programmes for the 2025/2026 academic session.

ATBU offers a wide range of postgraduate programmes leading to the award of Postgraduate Diploma (PGD), Master’s, and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degrees across various faculties.

Available Postgraduate Programmes

Prospective candidates can apply for the following postgraduate degrees:

Postgraduate Diploma (PGD)

Master of Science (M.Sc.)

Master of Tech. Education (M.Tech. Ed)

Master of Engineering (M.Eng.)

M.Sc. in Embedded Artificial Intelligence

Master of Technology (M.Tech.)

Master of Business Administration (MBA)

Master of Health Management (MHM)

Master of Accounting and Finance (MAFS)

Master of Information Technology Management (MITM)

Master of Development Studies (MDS)

Master of Facility Management (MFM)

Ph.D., M.Sc., Professional Masters, and PGD in:

Procurement Management, Sustainable Environmental Studies, and Sustainable Social Development.

ATBU Postgraduate Admission Requirements

a. Postgraduate Diploma (PGD)

Credit pass in English Language and Mathematics at O’level (WAEC, NECO, NABTEB).

Bachelor’s Degree with at least Third-Class Honours from ATBU or any recognized university.

HND holders with a minimum of Lower Credit from a recognized institution.

Other acceptable qualifications and relevant field experience as deemed fit by the University.

b. Master’s Degrees

O’level credit in English Language and Mathematics (WAEC, NECO, NABTEB).

Bachelor’s Degree from ATBU with at least Second Class Lower Division.

Degree holders from recognized universities with a minimum CGPA of 3.00 (on a 5.00 scale) or CGPA of  2.40–2.99 plus three years post-graduation experience.

Third-class degree holders with five years post-graduation experience.

PGD holders with at least credit level pass from ATBU or other recognized institutions.

HND holders with a credit pass plus a credit-level PGD in a relevant area.

Unclassified degrees with an average grade of C or above.

Some candidates may be required to sit for a qualifying exam at the department’s discretion.

c. Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.)

O’level credit in English Language and Mathematics.

Master’s degree in a related field from ATBU or any other recognized university.

Minimum CGPA of 3.50 on a 5.00 scale.

Applicants may be required to pass a qualifying exam and/or undergo probation not exceeding 12 months.

Note: Engineering PGD programmes have a minimum duration of 24 months and maximum of 36 months.

How to Apply for ATBU Postgraduate Admission 2025/2026

1. Interested candidates should visit (http://www.pgatbu.com.ng) to complete the online application.

2. Application forms cost ₦11,000 and can be accessed from June 23, 2025, to September 29, 2025.

3. Applicants must:

Use a valid email address and phone number for communication.

Upload scanned copies of their credentials during the application.

Ensure their academic transcripts are sent directly to the Head of Department of their intended programme.

Ph.D. applicants must upload a pre-proposal/synopsis and also send a hard copy to the Head of Department.

Possess an NYSC discharge or exemption certificate (compulsory).

Closing Date for Application

The deadline for the submission of all completed application forms is 30th September, 2025.
