The National Examinations Council (NECO) has officially released the 2025 SSCE External (GCE) Registration Form. This year’s exam will be Computer-Based (CBE) and features 16 carefully selected subjects.

If you’re a school leaver, private candidate, or someone looking to improve past results — this is your chance!

What is NECO SSCE External (GCE)?

This is the NECO exam for private candidates — those who aren’t in school or want to sit for the exam independently. It leads to the award of the Senior School Certificate.

For 2025, the exam will be Computer-Based, not written with paper and pen.

How to Register For NECO GCE 2025

1. Visit http://www.neco.gov.ng

2. Create an account using your phone number or email

3. Purchase registration quota

4. Visit any approved cybercafé for:

  • Biometric fingerprint capture
  • Passport photo upload (must not be older than 6 months)
  • Completion of registration
  • Your NIN (National Identification Number) is compulsory for registration.

Registration Fees

Normal Registration: ₦30,000 (Includes a Mathematical Set & Waterproof Certificate Jacket)

Late Registration: (Nov 19–25): ₦30,000 + ₦5,000 = ₦35,000

Walk-in Registration: (Nov 26–Dec 1): ₦43,000

Stamp duty, Remita & service charges apply.

Mode of Payment

Payments can be made through:

ATM Card, Internet Banking, USSD, Wallet, and Bank Branch

Important Dates

Registration Starts: 7th July, 2025

Registration Ends: 18th November, 2025 (12 midnight)

Exam Starts: 26th November, 2025

Exam Ends: 13th December, 2025

Attestation & Photo Card

After registering, each candidate must obtain from the cybercafé:

  • Timetable
  • NECO Photocard (used for exam admission)

You’ll also need to print and complete an Attestation Form, which must be signed and stamped by any of the following:

  • Your school principal
  • Imam or church minister
  • Police or army officer (from Captain rank upward)
  • Civil servant (GL. 14 and above)
  • Lawyer (10+ years post-call)

No need to take attestation forms to NECO offices anymore!

Candidates With Special Needs

Register like every other candidate but clearly state your condition when filling in your biodata online.

Exam Centres

Each state is grouped into neighbourhoods. Simply select your preferred neighbourhood during registration. NECO will automatically assign your centre within that area.

Mock Exam

NECO may schedule a mock exam for interested candidates. Details will be communicated later.

Important Reminders

  • No refund after payment.
  • Walk-in candidates must register at least 3 hours before the paper.
  • No edits allowed after uploading your exam centre.
  • Only one correction allowed before the exam (either name or passport).
  • No multiple registration— offenders will be disqualified.

Candidates must:

  • Dress in mufti (no uniforms)
  • Be seated 30 minutes before each paper
  • Avoid bringing phones, calculators, smart watches, or any gadgets.

Banned Items

Don’t bring the following to the exam hall:

Phones, Smart watches, Calculators, Tablets, Glasses with tech features, and Any electronic communication gadgets

The NECO GCE 2025 is your second chance — don’t miss it! Start your registration early to avoid late fees or last-minute issues.
