The University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) invites applications from suitably qualified candidates for admission into the School of Preliminary Studies (SPS) at the Fufu Campus for the 2025/2026 academic session.

Through this programme, candidates can gain assured admission into 100 Level of various undergraduate courses in the university, subject to meeting required criteria.

What is UNILORIN SPS?

The School of Preliminary Studies (SPS) is a one-year remedial programme designed to prepare candidates for admission into UNILORIN’s full-time undergraduate programmes. The programme spans across the faculties of Agriculture, Arts, Education, Engineering, Environmental Sciences, Management Sciences, Life Sciences, Physical Sciences, and Social Sciences.

Eligibility for Direct 100 Level Admission via SPS

The best thirty (30) students in the SPS final examination may be offered direct admission into competitive courses such as:

  • Anatomy
  • Physiology
  • Doctor of Pharmacy
  • Physiotherapy
  • Doctor of Optometry
  • Veterinary Medicine
  • Nursing
  • Economics
  • Accounting
  • Banking and Finance
  • English Language

Note: MB;BS and Law are excluded.

These students may also gain access to other available courses offered under the SPS programme, provided they meet the minimum UTME and O’Level admission requirements.

Lectures for admitted SPS students will begin on Monday, October 20, 2025.

Terms and Conditions

  • Admission into undergraduate programmes is based on good performance in the SPS final exams.
  • UNILORIN considers only candidates who sat for the UTME and met the minimum national cutoff mark.
  • Admission is strictly based on UTME, SPS performance, and O’Level merit.
  • Two (2) consecutive sessions of failed attendance or poor academic standing leads to forfeiture of admission.
