The National Examinations Council (NECO) has officially released the 2025 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) External (GCE) results, with more than 80 percent of candidates recording five credits and above.
The announcement was made on Tuesday by the NECO Registrar and Chief Executive, Professor Dantani Wushishi, during a press conference held at the council’s headquarters in Minna, Niger State.
According to the Registrar, candidates who participated in the 2025 NECO GCE can now check their results on the official NECO website using their examination registration numbers.
He stated that a total of sixteen subjects were examined during the exercise. Altogether, 96,979 candidates registered for the examination, made up of 51,823 males (53.43 percent) and 45,156 females (46.56 percent). Out of this number, 95,160 candidates eventually sat for the examination.
Performance Statistics for English and Mathematics
In English Language, 93,425 candidates sat for the examination, out of which 73,167 candidates, representing 78.32 percent, obtained credit and above.
For Mathematics, 93,330 candidates participated, with 85,256 candidates, representing 91.35 percent, scoring credit and above.
Overall Performance Summary
Professor Wushishi revealed that 68,166 candidates, representing 71.63 percent, obtained five credits and above including English Language and Mathematics.
In addition, 82,082 candidates, representing 86.26 percent, recorded five credits and above regardless of English Language and Mathematics.
Examination Malpractice Report
On examination malpractice, the NECO Registrar disclosed that 9,016 candidates were booked for various forms of misconduct during the 2025 examination. This figure represents a 31.7 percent increase when compared to the 6,160 cases recorded in 2024.
He further disclosed that five supervisors were recommended for blacklisting for aiding and abetting examination malpractice. These supervisors included two from the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and one each from Kano, Adamawa, and Ondo States.
In addition, four examination centres were recommended for de-recognition after being found guilty of whole-centre malpractice. Two of the centres are located in Niger State, while one each is in Yobe and Kano States.
