Ajayi Crowther University (ACU), Oyo, has achieved a significant academic milestone with the full accreditation of its Nursing programme and eight other courses by the National Universities Commission (NUC).
This development comes after a thorough accreditation exercise conducted by the NUC in October and November 2024. In accordance with Section 10 (1) of the Education (National Minimum Standard and Establishment of Institutions) Act CAP E3, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria 2004, the Commission evaluated various programmes to ensure they meet national academic standards.
In a formal letter signed by the Acting Director of Accreditation, Abraham Chundusu, on behalf of the Executive Secretary, Prof. Abdullahi Ribadu, the NUC confirmed the full accreditation of the following programmes:
- Nursing
- Environmental Health Science
- Christian Religious Studies
- History and International Studies
- Music
- Performing Arts
- Law
- Mathematics
- Statistics
In addition, the university’s Master of Business Administration (MBA) programme also received full accreditation status.
Reacting to the announcement, the Vice-Chancellor of ACU, Prof. Timothy Adebayo, expressed his appreciation to the NUC for its transparent and rigorous process. He highlighted that the accreditation is a reflection of the university’s dedication to excellence, both academically and infrastructurally.
“This outcome reflects our unwavering commitment to academic excellence and integrity,” he stated. “On behalf of the University Senate and Governing Council, I extend our sincere gratitude to the NUC. I also commend our hardworking staff and diligent students for their contributions to this success.”
Prof. Adebayo emphasized that the full accreditation further solidifies ACU’s standing as a top-tier institution committed to delivering world-class education and research.
