Tinubu Grants N250K, Federal Jobs, and Scholarships to 210 Outstanding Ex-Corps Members
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, has awarded automatic employment, doctoral-level scholarships, and cash prizes of N250,000 each to 210 exceptional former Corps Members who served between 2020 and 2023.
Out of this number, 200 were recognized for their outstanding performance across the NYSC’s four cardinal programmes, while 10 sustained serious injuries during their national service.
President Tinubu made the announcement during the 2025 NYSC President’s Honours Award Ceremony held at the Banquet Hall, Presidential Villa, Abuja.
Immediate Employment Into Federal Civil Service
The President directed the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation and the Federal Civil Service Commission to immediately process the employment of all 210 honorees into the Federal Civil Service.
Representing the President, Mrs. Nkeiruka Onyejeocha, Minister of State for Labour and Employment, praised the NYSC Scheme for its continuous role in promoting unity, education, agriculture, healthcare, and national development over the past five decades.

The top honorees include:
- Nunaya Polycarp Nunaya – Adamawa State (served in Kwara)
- Okpogbo Alvin Chinedu – Imo State (served in Cross River)
- Dr. Ugwa Obinna Mark – Abia State (served in Cross River)
- Rabiu Quadri Mayokun – Osun State (served in Rivers)
Best female awardees:
- Akase Patience Nguwasen – Benue State (served in Gombe)
- Igwe Anne Chikaobi – Enugu State (served in Sokoto)
Reaffirming Support for NYSC
President Tinubu applauded NYSC’s Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) programme, which equips thousands of Corps Members annually with practical skills for self-reliance and job creation. He also highlighted youth-targeted initiatives such as the revitalized Nigerian Youth Investment Fund (NYIF) and the National Talent Export Programme to support post-service opportunities for Nigerian youths.

- NYSC Director General, Brigadier General Olakunle Akinyemi Nafiu, outlined some of the Scheme’s accomplishments:
- 6,340 Corps Medical Personnel, including 2,319 medical doctors, were deployed under the Health Initiative for Rural Dwellers (HIRD) programme to provide free medical services to over 4 million Nigerians in underserved communities.
- Corps Members’ allowance was increased from N33,000 to N77,000.
- About 250,000 Corps Members received skill training annually under an improved and tech-focused SAED curriculum.
NYSC Trust Fund and Future Prospects
General Nafiu revealed that the NYSC Trust Fund Bill has been signed into law. The fund will:
Provide sustainable funding for NYSC operations
Support the upgrade of camp infrastructure and facilities
Enhance welfare and reintegration services for Corps Members after service. He also confirmed that the Scheme’s participation in national development projects such as elections and SDGs campaigns will continue.
