WAEC Releases 2026 CB-WASSCE Results for Private Candidates (First Series)
Official Announcement by the West African Examinations Council
The West African Examinations Council has officially released the results of the Computer-Based West African Senior School Certificate Examination (CB-WASSCE) for Private Candidates, 2026 – First Series.
This announcement was made at WAEC’s national office located at 21, Hussey Street, Yaba, Lagos, Nigeria.
Examination Details
The examination was conducted across Nigeria between:
Wednesday, January 28, 2026
Saturday, February 14, 2026
Marking and coordination of scripts took place from:
Thursday, February 26 to Friday, March 13, 2026
A total of 608 examiners participated in the marking exercise across three venues:
- Lagos
- Enugu
- Kaduna
Candidate Statistics
Total Registered Candidates: 10,523
Increase from 2025: 11.49% (from 9,438 candidates)
Total Candidates Who Sat: 10,480
Examination Centres: 166 nationwide
Gender Distribution
Male Candidates: 5,106 (48.72%)
Female Candidates: 5,374 (51.28%)
Special Needs Candidates
A total of 43 candidates with special needs registered:
11 visually impaired
4 hearing impaired
4 albinos
WAEC confirmed that adequate provisions were made for all special needs candidates during the examination.
Results Processing Status
Out of the total candidates who sat:
8,418 candidates (80.32%) – Results fully processed and released
2,062 candidates (19.68%) – Some results still being processed due to errors traceable to candidates
WAEC assured candidates that efforts are ongoing to complete all pending results.
Performance Analysis
Out of 10,480 candidates:
4,598 candidates (43.87%) obtained credit and above in at least five subjects (with or without English and Mathematics)
3,429 candidates (32.72%) obtained credit and above in at least five subjects, including English Language and Mathematics
Performance by Gender (Key Category)
Among candidates who obtained five credits including English and Mathematics:
Male: 1,847 (53.86%)
Female: 1,582 (46.14%)
Year-on-Year Performance Comparison
2024: 30.95%
2025: 26.96%
2026: Increase of 5.76%
This indicates a marginal improvement in overall performance.
Withheld Results
75 candidates (0.72%) have had their results withheld due to suspected examination malpractice
WAEC stated that:
Investigations are ongoing
Reports will be submitted to the appropriate committee
Final decisions will be communicated directly to affected candidates
