YABATECH to Issue Certificates on Convocation Day as 8,654 Students Graduate

The Yaba College of Technology (YABATECH), Lagos, has announced a major upgrade to its convocation process as graduates will now receive their certificates on the day of convocation. This disclosure was made by the Rector of the College, Dr. Ibraheem Abdul, during a press conference at the Academic Board Room ahead of the institution’s 37th Convocation Ceremonies.

Certificates to Be Issued Immediately After Clearance

Dr. Abdul stated that once students complete their clearance, they will receive scrolls containing their certificates on the convocation day.

“Our students will get their certificates on that day of convocation. We will do a symbolic presentation at the grad stand while other students who get themselves cleared will collect their certificates from their school.

Gone are the days when the scroll is always empty. Our students will now go with their scroll with their certificates there.”

This marks a significant improvement from previous years when students received empty scrolls and had to wait months before collecting their actual certificates.

8,654 Students to Receive Diplomas

The Rector announced that a total of 8,654 graduates will receive diplomas at the convocation scheduled for November 20. The Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, will serve as the Special Guest of Honour.

Breakdown of graduating students:

  • 291 — Distinction
  • 2,434 — Upper Credit
  • 4,403 — Lower Credit
  • 1,526 — Pass Grade

The overall best graduating student is Ani Faith, from the Department of Office Technology Management, with an impressive CGPA of 3.9/4.0.

Dr. Abdul noted:

The ideas generated from this lecture will represent Yaba College of Technology’s contributions to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s agenda for economic diversification and digital transformation.”

He emphasized that the institution is fully prepared:
