JAMB 2026 Update — 2.2 Million Candidates, 966 Centres, April 16

If you are writing JAMB 2026, here is what you need to know today: the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has confirmed that everything is in place for the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination. The exam begins Thursday, April 16 and runs to Wednesday, April 22.

2.24 Million Candidates. 966 CBT Centres.

This year’s UTME is one of the largest in JAMB’s history. No fewer than 2.24 million candidates are expected to sit the examination across 966 Computer Based Test centres nationwide.

23 Centres Were Delisted – What This Means for You

Following the Mock UTME conducted earlier this year, JAMB delisted 23 CBT centres for poor performance mostly due to technical inadequacies that disrupted candidate experience during the mock.

If your assigned centre was among those delisted, JAMB would have reassigned you to a different centre and that change would be reflected on your exam slip. This is another reason why printing and carefully reading your slip right now is not optional.

Candidates With Disabilities – Special Arrangements Are in Place

JAMB has confirmed that special provisions have been made for candidates living with disabilities through the JAMB Equal Opportunity Group. If this applies to you or someone you know, contact the nearest JAMB state office immediately to confirm the arrangements made for your specific centre and session.

JAMB’s Warning on Malpractice – Take It Seriously

The board has issued a clear warning: strict penalties will be enforced against examination malpractice and the possession of prohibited items during the examination.

Prohibited items include:

Mobile phones any phone, including basic phones
Earphones or earbuds
Wristwatches analogue or digital
Any electronic device
Written notes or textbooks

JAMB has also warned candidates against fraudsters on WhatsApp and social media claiming to facilitate score inflation or result upgrades. The board has described such offers as “false and criminal” and warned that any candidate found involved faces cancellation of registration or withholding of results.

Campusflash tip: No legitimate person can change your JAMB score. Anyone promising to do so for money is a fraudster. Block and report them. Your score is determined by how you perform in that exam hall â€” nothing else.

What You Should Do Right Now

Print your exam slip at www.jamb.gov.ng in colour, not black and white
Confirm your centre address on Google Maps and plan your travel route
Arrive at least one hour before your session time on exam day
Leave your phone at home not in your bag, not in your pocket. At home.
Ignore any postponement messages the exam is proceeding as scheduled
