Before You Generate Your JAMB Profile Code, Know These 5 Important Facts
1. The phone number you use is extremely important
Your JAMB profile code is permanently linked to the phone number used to generate it. This means the phone number you send the SMS from matters a lot.
It must be your personal phone number — not your mother’s, not your father’s, not a café or friend’s line.
That phone number must remain active throughout the entire admission process, from JAMB registration to admission. If the line is lost, blocked, or changed, you may face serious difficulty retrieving information or resolving issues later.
2. Your NIN details must be correct from the start
JAMB relies completely on the information attached to your National Identification Number (NIN). The details on your NIN will follow you throughout the entire admission process.
Your full name, date of birth, gender, local government of birth, and state of origin must be accurate and must match the information on your official documents, including your O’Level result, birth certificate, and state of origin certificate.
What may seem like a small error at this stage can later lead to delays, unnecessary stress, or outright disqualification.
3. You are allowed to use only one JAMB profile code
Generating a JAMB profile code is not something you should experiment with.
Once generated, that profile code is uniquely yours. If you misplace it, share it carelessly, or try to generate another one, resolving the issue can be frustrating and time-consuming.
Write the code down, save it securely, and protect it. You will need it throughout your JAMB and admission journey.
4. The SMS used to generate the profile code is not free
Many candidates make this mistake every year.
Generating your JAMB profile code attracts a charge. If there is no airtime on your SIM, the code will not be generated. To avoid issues, ensure you have at least ₦100 airtime on the phone number you intend to use.
5. Your profile code is the foundation of your JAMB registration
Without a JAMB profile code, you cannot purchase the ePIN. Without the ePIN, you cannot complete JAMB registration.
Everything in the JAMB process starts and moves with your profile code. Treat it with seriousness and handle it the same way you would handle important exam documents.
